Yes, those are skulls on the scarf and sunglasses — from Neiman Marcus no less.

At dinner the other night, our lovely young waitress had on what I thought was some kind of pattern — white on black, but it was skulls. Tastefully done — tiny skulls, but skulls just the same, and not for Halloween. I mean her top was adorable!

Then I looked up the fashion trend, and thanks to Alexander McQueen and other designers, it has been a BIG trend for years. Skulls are dotting everything from high-fashion sweaters and T-shirts (even cutouts in the backs of dresses) to socks and pantyhose. Oh and the jewels! And purses. The picture links to a lot of fashion designs from a San Antonio Express News article last fall.

and it’s not just for the ladies. Check out this guy tie: skull tieSkull fashions are all over Pinterest. Skulls are considered good luck in some cultures, and during a trip out West a few years ago, we saw skulls as some pretty awesome decorating items. I won’t be sporting any skulls, but they are fashionable. With Halloween coming, I could be tempted.
